3D Printing Connecting Pasta and Building Informatics Circles through Joints
アイスブレイク等の題材によく用いられるパスタタワー。通常はマシュマロをジョイントとしてパスタを連結した構造体を作るが、それを 3D プリントしたジョイントに代替してみるイベント。マシュマロと違い事前に形状が決まってしまうという制約のなか、各チームごとにそれぞれ戦略の練られたジョイントを持ち寄り、3D プリントの特性、そして想像と現実のギャップを目の当たりにするワークショップとなった。名古屋周辺の建築学生から参加者を募り、3D プリント経験者から、3D モデリングに初めて触れる人まで、多様な属性の 15 名から 3 チームを編成。事前にオンラインで形状の決定とモデリング、3Dプリントを行い、当日はジョイントを目の前に試行錯誤しながら 20 分間でタワーを組み上げた。講評に広島工業大学杉田先生、株式会社ディックス田村氏、零三設計室東福氏、椙山女学園大学山下氏、ほかゲスト 3 名をお招きし講評をいただいた。
Pasta towers are often used as ice breakers. Usually, marshmallows are used as joints to create a structure of connected pasta, but in this event, we tried to replace them with 3D printed joints. Unlike marshmallows, the shape of the joints is determined in advance, and each team brought their own strategically designed joints. The workshop provided an opportunity to see the characteristics of 3D printing and the gap between imagination and reality. Participants were recruited from architecture students in the Nagoya area, and three teams were formed from 15 participants with diverse attributes, ranging from those with 3D printing experience to those new to 3D modeling. The teams decided on the shape, modeling, and 3D printing online in advance, and on the day of the workshop, they assembled the towers in 20 minutes through trial and error in front of the joints. The teams were reviewed by Mr. Sugita of Hiroshima Institute of Technology, Mr. Tamura of DIX Corporation, Mr. Tofuku of Zero San Design Office, Mr. Yamashita of Sugiyama Jogakuen University, and three other guests.
