時間で変化する一期一会の光
Lighting that changes with time
一秒たりとも同じ光にならない照明を
氷を使った照明を作ろうと思った。氷は時間経過で溶けて、水に戻っていく。この性質を利用して、シンプルでありつつも変化がある光を表現したい。氷は１つではない。透明なもの、曇ったもの、塩分が混ざったもの。氷の作り方の違いで、光が透過した時に、強い光、弱い光、マーブル模様の光といった様々な姿を創り出す。作り方の違う氷を重ねて錘が先についた照明を乗せ、氷が溶けていきさらに照明が下へ落ちていくことで、光の表情が変わっていく。「予測ができない」「いつ消えるかわからない」光は、時間に縛られない、変化する、不規則で不完全な照明となった。
I was thinking of making a light that never stays the same for a second.
I was thinking of making a light using ice. Ice melts over time and returns to water. Using this property, I wanted to express a simple yet variable light. There is more than one kind of ice. Some are transparent, some are cloudy, and some are mixed with salt. Different ways of making ice create different appearances when light passes through it, such as strong light, weak light, and marbled light. The ice is then piled on top of each other and a weighted light is placed on top of each layer. As the ice melts and the light falls further down, the appearance of the light changes. The light, which is “unpredictable” and “never knows when it will disappear,” becomes an irregular and imperfect illumination that is not bound by time, but rather changes.
